Diabetic foot

Diabetic foot is one of the most common complications of diabetes, characterized by infections, ulcers, and deep tissue changes in the foot. Causes include poor blood circulation (angiopathic form), reduced nerve sensitivity (neuropathic form), or a combination of both.

The main risk factor is improper footwear that constantly injures the skin. An unnoticed scratch can quickly turn into a deep ulcer, especially with frequent hyperglycemia episodes that reduce sensitivity in the lower limbs.
